Footage from Stephen’s first band concert

I’ll post more of it later, but here is the first song they did, “March of the Romans”. Keep in mind, most of these students just began playing these instruments about 4 months ago. I thought they did great. And of course, I thought Stephen did exceptionally well. Enjoy.

Stephen’s first band concert is tomorrow
Posted by Jarrod Skeggs in Family happenings, Music on December 15, 2008
Stephen will be playing in his first school band concert tomorrow evening. He has really shown a lot of passion for playing the drums. (No idea where he gets that…) He will be playing a number of different percussion instruments during the concert including the suspended cymbal, snare drum, marimba, and more. I plan to video as much of it as possible and I will post the finished video to YouTube with a link in a blog post hopefully by Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
Stephen is becoming a very skilled drummer

As many of you know, Stephen is playing percussion in the 6th grade band this school year. He just made 1st chair again.
He and I went to Guitar Center a couple of weeks back and I recorded him playing the drums while we were there. Here is a short snipet…not bad for a beginner.

Griffin Technology rocks!
Posted by Jarrod Skeggs in Music on December 12, 2008
I recently downloaded the free iTalk recorder app for my iPhone. I’ve used a Griffin iTalk mic in the past in conjunction with an iPod Classic and had very good experiences.
Last night I was trying to create a blog entry, (it’ll post soon), to share a short recording that I did. When I launched the desktop app that enables me to drag my recordings to my Mac I kept getting errors. I tried a number of things that didn’t solve the problem so I decided that I would email their tech support about the problem this morning.
I got an email from them around 12:00 noon today giving me some very detailed instructions about how to troubleshoot this problem and find the cause. Within about 5 minutes of following their instructions I was dragging recordings from my iPhone to my Mac without any trouble. So, here’s a shout-out to Griffin. THANKS!!!
If you own an iPhone, I highly recommend their iTalk recorder app. There is a free version that is ad supported and there is a version that is ad free for $4.99. Either one rocks. I’m a free/ad supported user myself as ads don’t really bother me. Go to the app store now and get it. You’ll have a lot of fun with it.
Happy recording!!
