What’s up with the ads?

So, I’ve had a few questions from folks about how I’m getting MacMall, Amazon, iTunes, and other businesses to advertise on my family blog. The reality of it is this, my business, Digital Design Solution, has established several Affiliate relationships, which include MacMall, Amazon, iTunes, and 37 Signals. The relationship works like this; we place their ads on our blogs and websites, as more and more people read our blogs and visit our websites, they click on the ads and buy things. Once they make a purchase, we get a percentage of that purchase. At present, it’s pretty much a tip jar at best, but our hope is to work towards make it gas money and eventually earn some significant income from these Affiliate relationships.
That having been said, almost everyone buys books from Amazon and music from iTunes. If that’s you, we’d appreciate your support. It’s as simple as getting in the habit of heading to this site or over to the DDS site when you are ready to make an Amazon order or purchase some music from iTunes. From there, click the appropriate ad and once you are in the Affiliate website, we get a commission on everything you buy during that visit. As well, if you or someone you know is planning on buying a Mac anytime soon, please send them our way as well. MacMall has some awesome deals most of the time and we also have an Affiliate relationship directly with the Apple Store online.
So that’s my sales pitch for the week. Stay tuned for some more baseball news shortly. We’re preparing for our trip to Cooperstown, NY, where we’ll play baseball for a week and enjoy getting to finally see the Baseball Hall of Fame. I’m looking so forward to having that experience with Stephen.

So, I’ve been extremely busy with helping Ginger get the boxes unpacked and getting everything settled in here at the new house. Naturally, I haven’t blogged much as a result. Stephen’s baseball team did end up winning the Hall County Middle School Championship for both the regular season and the County Tournament. I’ve attached a copy of the newspaper clipping that came out in the Gaineville Times the day after their big win.
I’m very proud of Stephen and how well he did playing up with 7th and 8th graders this season. He finished the season very strong with a .425 batting average. His on base percentage was very high too. While I didn’t calculate it during the season, I feel certain that it was probably .700 or better.
Stephen is going to pick up and play a few more games with his old team, the Collins Hill Eagles and will travel to Cooperstown, NY with the team in June to play a tournament. Thanks to all who followed us this baseball season and to all those who have coached Stephen in the past. Your support and efforts mean a lot to Stephen as well as Ginger and me.

So, we’ve been in the new house for over a week now and we’re finally starting to get settled in. We’ve still got some boxes to unpack, but we are at a point where we can at least relax without looking around and thinking that we really need to be working. Ginger and I took a few minutes and sat out on our back deck tonight and enjoyed listening to all the frogs that live in and around our little pond. I recorded them for about a minute and I’ve attached the audio file here. Hope you enjoy it. I know we sure are…
Falcons advance to tournament championship

The CW Davis Falcons routed the East Hall Vikings yesterday with a final score of 16-4. This win advances the Falcons to the tournament championship which will be played tonight, April 27, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at Laurel Park in Gainesville, GA.
There were numerous highlights to yesterdays game. Alden Jackson started on the hill and went 1 full inning allowing only 1 run. Brad Brown pitched very well for innings 2 and 3. Dylan Streets entered in relief of Brown and pitched the 4th and 5th innings to close out the game.
Offensively, the Falcons performed very well. Big Mac Combs continues to hit the ball well. Combs hit a singe and a double on the day. The double went to Center Field and the poor player let the ball roll through his legs all the way to the fence so Combs ended up scoring on the hit. Stephen Skeggs went 1 for 2 on the day with a double down the Left Field line, a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a strike-out. He scored 3 runs on the day. Skeggs improves his average to .459 for the season. Andrew Miles had a great day at the plate with 2 singles and a double with 5 RBI’s on the day. Brandon Benevento put a double down the Left Field line and got an RBI. Dylan Gibeau returned to the Falcons line-up after being on the DL for the entire regular season. Gibeau was the DH and went 3 for 3 on the day with 2 singles and a double.
The Falcons will face the Gainesville Red Elephants tonight for the championship game. We hope to take it all.

So, I came in to 4 last minute tickets to the G-Braves 2:00 p.m. game for yesterday. I ended up checking Stephen out of school and taking him. My business partner came along and brought his son as well. This is what happened between the 8th & 9th innings.
